HOW SELF-ADHESIVE PDLC SMART FILM WORKS
Self-adhesive PDLC Smart Film is bonded directly to the surface of existing glass via clean dry lamination. Featuring an integrated architectural optical adhesive layer, it enables rapid, non-invasive retrofit installation ideal for tenant improvements and commercial renovations.
- Zero Electrical Field (0V): In the absence of an applied voltage, liquid crystal droplets are randomly dispersed and disoriented within the polymer matrix.
- Total Visual Privacy: The refractive indices of the liquid crystals and the polymer matrix mismatch, refracting and scattering light rays in all directions. Direct vision is 100% blocked.
- Diffused Ambient Daylight: While preventing see-through vision, it allows 55% to 60% of natural sunlight to transmit as soft, glare-free diffused illumination.
- Voltage Activation (48V AC): Upon energizing, the electric field induces an instant dipole moment that aligns all liquid crystal micro-droplets perpendicularly in parallel.
- Crystal Clarity (< 10 ms): In their aligned orientation, the refractive index of the liquid crystals matches that of the host polymer, allowing light rays to pass through without refraction.
